Race Information

Join us at the Canmore Nordic Centre on Saturday March 30, 2024 for a super fun day of cross-country ski racing. No experience required. This is a very novice-friendly event.

Western Cup XL runs March 28–31, 2024.

The Western Cup XL Cross-Country Skiing race is hosted by Calgary Gay Ski and Social and will run over one (1) day.

This tournament, and all Western Cup XL events, is hosted by members and allies of the 2SLGBTQ+ community and is a safe space for all people. There is zero tolerance for discrimination.

Tournament Structure

9:30am: King of the Vikings - 10k continuous pursuit

10:00am: 5km Skate race - interval start

10:15am: 5km Classic race - mass start

10:45am: 2km Drag race - intended for skiers who are newer to skiing - get your drag on!

11:30am: 3 person relay - 30 second time deduction per skier wearing your most fabulous outfit. Teams will be assigned some fabulous drag hair and pass the wig like a baton on each leg of the relay. Wigs must be on a skiers head while skiing and crossing the finish line to qualify.

After the races, during awards, join us for a glass of wine, or a beer and some cheese and crackers in a meeting room in the Biathlon building.

Show your pride! Earn a time deduction from your race time by sporting a fabulous outfit.

Registration Information

Fees for the individual Cross-Country Skiing races are listed on the registration site. Please note that a CNCC Trail Pass is needed to park at the venue and participate in the races—if you don’t have a pass already, you may purchase one via the registration site.

Once payment is confirmed, you will be officially registered for the tournament.

The One Night in Monaco social event is included free of charge for everyone.
