The cross-country skiing races in Western Cup XLI are run by Calgary Gay Ski and Social. We'd love it if you joined us! This is our fourth edition of our ski races at Western Cup and we have something here for everyone.

 

Whether you're a skier in the 2SLGBTQ+ community or an ally, you are welcome at this fantastically festive and dynamic event.

Skiing registration is now open.

Prospective skiers can look forward to choosing from:

​

• A 1.5K Drag Race: a chance for our beginning racers to dip their toe in the snow. Dress in drag and get a 30-second time deduction!

​

• 5K Classic (The Lumberjack Classic): grab your favourite plaid for a 30-second time deduction!

​

• 7.5K Skate (Shirtless Saturday): just like it says...a 30-second time deduction for braving the cold sans shirt! But wait, there's more! Want another time bonus? Wear shorts as well and get 30 additional seconds off your time!

​

• 10K Skiathlon (King/Queen of the Vikings): show up in your best Nordic splendour for a 30-second time deduction in the only Skiathlon on the provincial race calendar!

​

Did you know...when you race with us, you get a bonus race? It's true! Our 3 x 1.5km relay teams are chosen based on individual finishing times, and it's all about the fun.

​

Finally, stay tuned for more info about an opportunity to pre-ski the courses with the Chiefs of Event, plus a couple of fun, unofficial events taking place on April 18.
